12/8 Your favorite animal deck

這是參加#DecDivination的挑戰活動,今日主題 12/8: 最喜歡的動物主題牌

I don’t have an animal deck per se, but do have a mini deck: “The Sidhe Oracle of Fleeting Hare” by John Matthew’s.

It’s a mini deck because it’s 20 cards within the four-deck compilation, “The Circle of the Sidhe.” The author and the artist work together to put on paper what appeared to be psychic downloads from the Sidhe.

In Celtic lores, the hare is associated with the underworld and witches. Years ago I was drawn deeply to rabbits (they appeared in my dreams and meditations, and even someone told me they saw a giant rabbit as my spirit guide). So, naturally I’m drawn to learning more about hares.

What I like about the art of this deck is that it captures both stillness and movement. There are a few cards containing blurry shadows of a hare and a few as close-up sketches.

The cards are titled “the laughing hare”, “the hare in the mist”, “the summer hare”, etc. They somewhat tie to the behavior or symbolism of the hare, for example in the summer, but not always, for example when they are juxtaposed against the metaphorical myth, the story of the card is a bit more tuned to the human psychology.

Therefore, I don’t feel it’s a good source to deepen hare lore or biological knowledge, but as an energetic connection.

The descriptions are less cryptic than the mini deck that came before, “The Sidhe Oracle of the Moon.” it’s written to address human problems.

I do look forward to working with it, since that will be the only testament to this deck!
